Hosting Policy

This policy covers web hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS servers and business email provided by AHost. It applies alongside our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

Fair use of shared resources

Shared and WordPress hosting run many websites on the same servers. To keep every site fast, each account has limits on CPU, memory, processes and disk input/output. "Unlimited" features are subject to these fair-use limits and are intended for normal websites, not for file storage, backups of other systems or media streaming.

If an account consistently uses more than its share, we will contact you and help you optimise or move to a larger plan. We may temporarily limit an account that is affecting other customers.

Storage and inodes

Hosting storage is for files that are part of your website, its email and its normal operation. It must not be used as a general file archive or backup destination.

Backups

We take regular backups of hosting accounts to recover from hardware or system failures. Backup frequency depends on your plan. Backups are a safety net, not a substitute for your own backups — please keep copies of important data.

VPS servers

• You have full root access and are responsible for securing, updating and managing the operating system and software on your VPS.
• Outgoing connections that look like attacks, scanning or spam may lead to the server being suspended until the issue is resolved.
• Snapshots and backups are available where your plan includes them.

Business email

• Mailbox storage and sending limits apply per mailbox to protect delivery for everyone.
• Bulk, unsolicited or purchased-list email is not allowed. Use a dedicated email marketing service for newsletters.

Uptime and maintenance

We target 99.9% monthly uptime for hosting infrastructure. This target excludes scheduled maintenance, problems caused by your code or configuration, and events outside our reasonable control. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where practical.

Security

Keep your applications, themes and plugins up to date and use strong, unique passwords. If an account is compromised and used to send spam or host malware, we may suspend it to protect other customers and will work with you to clean it up.

Cancellation and data deletion

When a hosting, VPS or email service is cancelled or expires without renewal, it is suspended and its data is later permanently deleted. Download anything you need before the service ends.
