This policy explains how domain registrations work at AHost. Domain names are governed by the rules of each registry, so this policy sits alongside those rules and our Terms of Service.
Registry rules
- .in and other Indian domains (.co.in, .net.in, .org.in, .firm.in and others) are managed by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and are subject to the .IN Domain Name Registration Policy and the .IN Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (INDRP).
- Generic domains such as .com, .net and .org are governed by ICANN policies, including the Registrant Benefits and Responsibilities, the Transfer Policy and the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP).
- Other country-code domains follow the rules of their own registry.
By registering a domain you agree to the registry agreement and policies that apply to that extension.
Registration
- Domains are registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Showing a name as available is not a guarantee until the registration completes.
- You must give accurate and complete registrant contact details and keep them updated. Registries can suspend or cancel domains with false or unverifiable details. For generic domains, ICANN requires the registrant email address to be verified; please respond to the verification email within 15 days.
- You are the registrant of the domain. We act as your service provider for managing it.
Renewals and expiry
- Renewal reminders are sent from 30 days before expiry. You can enable auto-renew so we renew from your wallet balance.
- After expiry most domains enter a grace period in which they can be renewed at the normal price, followed by a redemption period in which they can only be restored for an additional registry fee. Grace and redemption lengths vary by extension.
- Domains not renewed or restored are released by the registry and may be registered by anyone.
Transfers
- To transfer a domain to AHost, unlock it at your current registrar and get the authorisation (EPP) code. Transfers usually add one year to the expiry date.
- Under ICANN rules, generic domains cannot be transferred within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer, and a change of registrant may trigger a 60-day transfer lock.
- To transfer a domain away, unlock it and request the authorisation code from your dashboard. We will not refuse a valid transfer request except where registry rules allow (for example, during a dispute or within a lock period).
- We store transfer authorisation codes encrypted and erase them once the transfer completes.
Privacy
Where the registry allows, contact details are hidden from public WHOIS/RDAP records. Some registries, including NIXI, set their own rules on what data is published.
Disputes
Trademark and domain disputes are handled under the UDRP for generic domains and the INDRP for .in domains. We follow decisions issued under these policies and orders from courts or registries.
Abuse
Report abuse involving a domain registered with us — phishing, malware, spam or other illegal activity — to support@ahost.in. We investigate every report and may suspend domains as required by our Acceptable Use Policy and registry rules.
